Four days is hardly long enough to explore and do justice to a country, its wines and its people, but my short visit to Uruguay last December was an excellent introduction, and I loved it! Uruguay is small, slightly smaller than the state of Washington and considerably smaller than the UK, with a population of less than three and a half million, and 660 km of coastline, much of it glorious. Of the 250 or so wine producers, only about 10 per cent export their wines, and many of those would like to reach more markets as domestic...
