The best Morellinos?
Federico Vincenzi sent me the following results of a blind tasting of the 2005 vintage from various smaller but locally highly-rated producers of Morellino di Scansano, the southern Maremma DOC based on local Sangiovese.
The tasting involved 10 wine store owners and sommeliers and the wines were scored according to Associazione Italiana Sommelier standards. As Federico points out, “please bear in mind that the scores have been done on the basis of how a typical Morellino should taste; I mean, we did not give high scores to labels that had wonderful Merlot scents...”
