Sauvignon Blanc styles analysed

For a general overview of this variety, see Jancis’s Sauvignon Blanc article in Fine Wine Facts.   There have been several threads on the forum recently about tasting terms, so I thought I’d have a go at describing some different styles of Sauvignon Blanc. I recently tasted almost a hundred Sauvignons from Chile and New Zealand, so my comments are based on wines from these two countries. The style descriptions may well apply to wines from other countries (especially South Africa) but I’m not trying to cover every Sauvignon style that exists - I didn’t, for example, taste any that resembled...
