Australia v Tesco

Tesco’s wine supremo Dan Jago was recently invited to give a talk to Australian wine producers at the Wine Industry Outlook conference in Melbourne. If you have his sort of buying power you probably don’t feel the need to be diplomatic. He wasn’t. Here are some of the things he told them:
“Argentina could steal your thunder.
Make more Old World varieties and less Shiraz, and Chardonnay, a grape that is increasingly looking unfashionable.
Make wines that are lighter than 13% and 14% alcohol....
