New, lighter sparkling wine bottle
It’s a sign of the times that a wine bottler is making a song and dance about a new bottle that weighs 16% less than the one it is designed to replace. Congratulations though to Broadland Wineries, one of the UK’s biggest contract bottlers, and their glass suppliers A E Chapman, to have come up with a regular 75cl sparkling wine bottle that does the business and weighs only 400g rather than the previous model at 480g.
Broadland call this “the UK’s lightest ever bottle for sparkling wine” and claim that the new bottles will save an average of 54 tonnes of CO 2 annually – although...
