A Weil view of Germany's 2007 vintage - video
26 Feb 2008 by JR
Robert Weil is one of the Rheingau's most important producers, now owned by Suntory of Japan although run by Wilhelm Weil. I had a delicious lunch at Chez Bruce in Wandsworth, south London with Karina Stuhler who is responsible for Weil's exports in the company of various others, including a certain well-known auctioneer whom you will spot in the background in the video below.  I asked her to describe the most recent vintage in Germany's classic wine region.  By the way, two words you might not catch are 'eyes' (on the vine) and 'Poles' (in the vineyards).
