The sheer scale of new Chinese ambition is staggering. The scenes below represent less than a third of Handel Lee's planned development of the Legation Quartier, an area not so much smaller than Tiananmen Square and just off it. There will be lawns, there will be a theatre, there will be a Daniel Boulud restaurant (one of at least five restaurants), there will be the inevitable (for China) private members' club, and there will be a wine centre.
