Behind the en primeur scenes - video
Last week I showed you a typical en primeur tasting, a blind tasting for the press organised by the Union des Grands Crus. Here we meet, same group each time decided by the UGC, commune by commune, to look at the wines produced by members of this organisation of the classified growths.
But of course many interesting properties, especially the smaller, newer ones on the right bank now represented by Alain Raynaud's useful Cercle Rive Droite, do not belong to this group. And the first growths and a growing band of super seconds regard themselves as too grand to supply barrel samples to be judged...
