Broadbent wins by a hair's breadth...

The wines stole the show at the Broadbent v Parker tasting at London wine merchant Roberson last night. For me it was more of a beauty contest for the wines than a boxing match between Michael Broadbent and Robert Parker. They gave a fascinating shapshot of disparate producers and disparate vintages, chosen for the contrasting reactions provoked in these two renowned and experienced critics. However, Roberson’s Mark Andrew, an enthusiastic master of ceremonies (and one who had the consummate skill of not talking too much), did regularly bring us back to order to vote for the wines in pairs, to check our impressions...
