The second annual conference of the American Association of Wine Economists sounds like either a bore or scam depending on how cynical you are. In fact this event held last week in Portland, Oregon, sounds highly entertaining in parts – not least the presentation by Robin Goldstein. As part of his input on ‘Do expensive wines taste better?’, shared with contributors from Harvard and Stockholm, Goldstein set out to research what it takes to win a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for a restaurant wine list.
