Gallo seek to expand Russian River Valley
The buzz I hear around town isn’t only about the incredibly early, frost-shrunk 2008 grape crop.
In a move that has been kept very quiet until now, Gallo Family Vineyards has petitioned the US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) to expand Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley appellation to include Gallo’s Two Rock Ranch Vineyard, located south of the existing Russian River Valley boundary near the city of Cotati.
If TTB approves the change (the petition has moved into the home stretch, the public comment phase, which ends 20 Oct 2008), it will be the second Russian River Valley expansion...
