A Bordeaux vertizontal

The enterprising Kensington wine store Roberson has a particularly good programme of evening wine tastings that Julia and I are often lucky enough to participate in. At the end of last June their chief tasting host Mark Andrew organised what they called a Vertizontal – a horizontal tasting of three particularly significant vintages (1990, 1989 and 1988) crossed with a vertical tasting of one significant wine from each of the major Médoc communes (Chx Palmer, Léoville Barton, Cos d'Estournel and Mouton-Rothschild).

As you can see from my notes and scores, these wines are mature enough to be of really serious...
