Ukraine, and in particular the Crimean peninsula, has clearly excellent potential - as witness the Massandra central winery bottlings of rich dessert wines sold by Sotheby's in the late 1980s, but it has so far failed to attract much outside investment. Sparkling wine is a speciality.
