In a nutshell: Tiny.

Main grapes: Riesling (white).

This small wine region is famous internationally for one producer, Toni Jost of Bacharach, whose racy, concentrated off-dry Rieslings show just what can be achieved in the vineyards of the famous Rhine Gorge, where the difficulty of working the very steep slopes has resulted in a severe decline in vineyard area. Other notable producers include Matthias Müller and Weingart.
