Hemming gets to taste

I reckoned that the least Richard Hemming deserves after sending us so many entertaining reports from his experiences as a cellar rat in McLaren Vale and as a valiant English vineyard slave is to be sent to the odd decent tasting. Below is his first despatch. What follows are a few select notes from the autumn tasting held last week by Berry Bros’ agency business Fields, Morris and Verdin. The wines in the first three sections are what Jancis specifically requested I tasted; the wines listed after that were my own selection, based mostly on personal curiosity. Incidentally, I also tasted an Italian IGT called Chaos...
