Max Allen on Oz today
Melbourne-based wine writer Max Allen was in the UK this week to a) help his mother pack up prior to a move to Australia and b) conduct a seminar on the increasing popularity and quality of his beloved 'alternative varieties' in Australia - ie not Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling, (His other great enthusiasm is biodynamics, which is also gaining more than a foothold Down Under.)
For me the most impressive wines he showed at Australia House in London were:
