We start a series of tasting notes on the three great fortified wines with Julia on port. With such great variety – from fresh, delicate tawny and colheita ports to rich, sweet, powerful and ageworthy vintage wines – and high quality at very reasonable prices, port deserves a good deal more attention than it gets. So I was delighted to have an opportunity to taste the following wines so  soon after my visit to Quinta do Noval . Almost all of these wines were tasted at the annual IVDP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto, the regulatory and promotional body for port and Douro wines) tasting in London...
