Chambolle in the snow
Yesterday I spent tasting 2007 burgundies at various top Côte de Nuits domaines. See below for what one of them, Domaine de la Comte Georges de Vogüé of Chambolle-Musigny, looked like when the sun shone: the handsome buildings together with taciturn winemaker François Millet. He speaks unusually good and precise English and really got going in the cellar over the wines, which, in 2007, he pronounces overwhelmingly mineral and citrus. Certainly the de Vogüé 2007s are some of the most embryonic, almost severe at this stage, that I tasted.
