A judge’s decision to deny a $2 million line of credit for Copia, the Napa wine, food and arts centre, is likely the last nail in the coffin for the bankrupt facility.
Copia , which opened to great hullabaloo in 2001, with Robert Mondavi and Julia Child among its biggest supporters, has since lost millions of dollars, closed its doors and left 385 unsecured creditors without payment. Without the line of credit, Copia is poised to vacate the building and its 12 acres of prime commercial land overlooking the Napa River.
