The following notes were taken from two consecutive tastings in London last week to which I was despatched while Jancis and Julia tried to keep up with the numerous concurrent tastings of 2007 burgundy: the WineBarn’s annual German shindig and the much larger New Zealand wine trade fair (which was apparently busier than ever). Since Jancis is about to go to the big Pinotfest in Central Otago at the end of this month and will be tasting many a Pinot Noir there, it seemed logical to focus on the other variety that Germany and New Zealand have in common, Riesling.
