When I was in New Zealand recently I was keen to catch up with recent developments in vineyards and cellars there, so I asked Winegrowers of New Zealand to set up a blind tasting for me of wines they thought particularly fine. I suggested they ignore Pinot Noir as I knew that I would have a chance to taste many of the best examples from all over the country at the Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration (see tasting notes on Central Otago's toothsome 2007 Pinots and NZ Pinot Noirs - how good?) and Sauvignon Blanc as Julia had recently completed her NZ Sauvignon Blanc marathon tasting in London.
