Swartland and Paardeberg's finest
‘We all have the anti-establishment complex here’, explained Eben Sadie when I asked why none of the Swartland and Paardeberg producers gathered for this tasting at Lammershoek winery had entered the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, where I had been judging earlier in the week.
They were a particularly coherent, focused yet friendly bunch and although Voor [in front of] Paardeberg is technically a ward (ie subregion) of the Paarl wine district and Agter [behind] Paardeberg is part of the Swartland district and not yet an official ward, this group of producers seemed to have more in common than the legislative niceties suggest, though...
