Yesterday was the day that we were officially allowed to review Germany's 2008 Grosses Gewächs wines. Michael Schmidt has been diligently tasting a vast number of these wines on our behalf and will be reporting later, but in the meantime, here are some notes from me and, below, Richard Hemming's notes on von Buhl's 2008s and some older vintages. I recently was able to taste a much wider range of 2008s from the talented Phillip Wittmann of the Rheinhessen as well as the wines of his wife's family estate on the Mosel, Ansgar Clüsserath, and the sweet (screwcapped) wines from the recently constructed new cellars of the Kloster...
