Tomorrow I plan to publish my tasting notes from a marathon three-day blind tasting of 300+ red burgundies from the 2006 vintage held in Beaune on the last weekend of summer, between the recording of
TV Jancis and
Farewell to summer.
To give you some idea of the circumstances in which we tasted, here's a sweep round the table of tasters in our tasting room in Beaune, kindly provided by Roy Richards of UK importers Richards Walford. We start with a little discussion about my Flip video camera with resident of Greater Burgundy and veteran wine writer, ex-wine-merchant Clive Coates MW, pictured here.
You'll have to strain to hear the conversation, but revel in the crackle of those plastic bags disguising the identity of all the wines we tasted. See my overview in the FT and Free for all on Saturday.
