This week is Pinot week

14 Dec 2009 by Jancis Robinson

Announcing a theme for this week:  our beloved Pinot Noir, source of all fine red burgundy and a grape that is grown with increasing competence all over the world.

Both today's tasting notes from the 2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration in Oregon and the video quiz are based on this, the most haunting and frustrating grape in the world.  You can read my profile of Pinot Noir in the free Grapes section of Resources/Learn about wine part of the site, although it was written some years ago and is probably not up to speed with the dramatic improvements in Pinot Noirs made in, for example, Germany and Canada.  (Thank you, global warming.)

If you click on the Pinot Noir tag below, you will find a wealth of articles on this variety all over the world.

There will be more on Pinot later in the week, but even Pinotphobes should keep on visiting the site this week as we are planning articles on many other topics, and tomorrow's wine of the week will be a bargain from Spain.  No, definitely not Pinot Noir.
