Paul O'Doherty is a journalist living in Dublin. He has a books programme, Bookbound, that goes out on Dublin City FM every Monday night and his first book, An Irishman's Diet , based on his spoof Irish Times column, was published last year. This is the first part of his reviews of this year's crop of wine books. They are, I should stress, his own personal views, not all of which I endorse. But since I know so many wine authors personally, I decided to take advantage of this series of independent viewpoints.
