Paul O'Doherty is a journalist living in Dublin. He has a books programme, Bookbound, that goes out on Dublin City FM every Monday night and his first book, An Irishman's Diet , based on his spoof Irish Times column, was published last year. This is the fourth and final collection of his reviews, concentrating on books with a vaguely historical theme written by Americans, of which there is a particularly bountiful crop this year.
