Sassicaia - the background understatements

As you will see from my enthusiastic scores in Sassicaia back to 1975 , I was recently treated to a great tasting organised by UK importers Armit at Lena restaurant in London of a dozen hand-picked vintages of this seminal wine from the Tuscan coast. Stepson of the owner, Dr Sebastiano Rosa, chose the vintages, as being the best from each decade and he certainly chose well. He was also usefully indiscreet, as you will read below. He admitted that his mother had shown great taste in choosing her second husband. He was born at the Tenuta San Guido, the 3,000 hectare estate, wildlife reserve and stud farm where Sassicaia is grown...
