In between the two tasting sessions devoted to a century of Riesling at Kloster Eberbach was this dinner, to which the local great and good were invited. Also in the monks' refectory. The high point of a stunning but too-copious dinner was a run of an almost obscene number of 2005 TBAs, to which the response of the (ex?) TV host on Gaia Gaja's right was, 'I only like dry wines'.  The chap on my right incidentally is not Simon Berry but his doppelgänger Roland Koch, the president of the state of Hessen and thereby current superintendent of the magnificently well-stocked cellars of the Kloster Eberbach state wine domain.
