Bordeaux 2009 - those sweet marvels
It really is crazy the extent to which sweet white bordeaux is ignored, even by the fine-wine traders and merchants who make more money than anyone dealing in them. Yesterday I had the enormous pleasure of tasting 25 Sauternes 2009 blind at Ch Coutet and by and large they were fantastic. And so much more difficult to make than the red wines that get so much attention. Lots of richness and botrytis. I loved particularly Chx Suduiraut, Guiraud, Nairac, La Tour Blanche and Doisy-Daëne. Then went on to Ch Climens to examine the marvels harvested but not yet blended there. Yquem is to be shown off in the centre of Bordeaux tomorrow...
