Savennières - the video
At the end of August I had the great pleasure of visiting the recently revitalised Savennières appellation, about which I write in detail in Revived Savennières . See also my tasting notes on 36 significant examples of these most distinctive wines .
What great, under-appreciated wines these are - quite unlike any other wine I can think of. As you will hear in this video, the head of the local Comité Interprofessionnel, Evelyne de Pontbriand (pictured) of Domaine du Closel, reckons that these long-lived wines should be taken every bit as seriously as white burgundy.
