Bordeaux opening prices: 2000 v 2001
Since we publish today a detailed look at how the 2001 bordeaux are tasting at 10 years old, and since Bordeaux primeurs fever is upon us, I thought it would be interesting to remind ourselves of the opening prices of the 2001s and how they compared with the opening prices of the 2000s.
I'm indebted to Anthony Maxwell of Liv-ex, who has kindly supplied the information below - and to Tamlyn Currin, who has marshalled it into legible form. All numbers refer to opening prices in euros per bottle.
Look how the prices tumbled for the 2001s, and just look at that Lafite bargain! Wouldn't it be nice to think that prices...
