An outsider's view of S Australia
Tai-Ran Niew, a refugee from the world of finance most recently based in Washington DC, now considering a career in wine, has just made his first trip to South Australia and sent this report of the tricky 2011 vintage there, about which you can read more here .
This was my first ever excursion to South Australia, and I don't usually drink Australian wine, so it has been an eye-opening experience. Although there is always an element of truth in most stereotypes (super-extracted Shiraz, volumes of confected blends), I was happily surprised by how very much more the region can offer.
