It's been a year now since news started doing the rounds in Italy that it is the undisputed world leader in the production of sparkling wines. In December last year, Assoenologi, the Italian association of oenologists, euphorically declared that 'Italy has beaten France' in fizz output. No less than 380 million bottles of  bollicine , or 'bubbles', as the category is often referred to in Italy, were produced in 2010...
