Will DOC Sicilia succeed?
On my recent visit to Tasca d'Almerita's estate in Sicily, I was keen to discuss the brand-new DOC Sicilia. As reported in Sicilia DOC , the former Sicilia IGT was elevated to the higher DOC status without any of the stricter rules that normally come with this quality elevation. Assovini Sicilia, the association of some of Sicily's best producers, was instrumental in the genesis of the DOC. Since Tasca d'Almerita is one of Assovini Sicilia's key members, I wanted to know what Alberto Tasca d'Almerita (pictured) thought of this recent creation, and what, according to him, its purpose is supposed to be.
