Sunday wine matching
Had a lovely Sunday lunch yesterday. Very simple. Just Nick and I in our garden in the Languedoc - one of rather few days we are here alone. No cooking involved (the temperature has been in the high 30s for some time and it has been quite challenging keeping reds cool enough to taste and drink). Leftovers really but the wine matches worked perfectly.
We began with a green salad - the quality of lettuces here is hundreds of times better than that of most lettuces we encounter in London - with some thin slivers of locally smoked duck breast. Half the salad had actually been dressed and served the previous night with the only turbot...
