Some top wines from August

August is a fallow month for most of the wine trade, but here on we added 632 tasting notes, nearly a third of which scored at least 17 out of 20.  For those who might have been away on holiday, or preoccupied by certain sporting events, here follows a selection of highlights from last month for your delectation, many of them added separately rather than as part of a tasting article... The ' more or less illegal ' Sicilian wine made by I Vigneri, as reported by Walter A embarrassment of riches from Vega Sicilia, including a 'very unusual preview' of the Uníco 2005 , the 'stunning and explosive' Uníco 2004...
