Grosse Gewächse safe from Rheingau takeover

What happens when you have dinner with three princes, two princesses and one president? On Monday 18 March at an extraordinary meeting of the Rheingau chapter of the VDP ( Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter, ie the  association of premium wine growers of Germany that includes several aristocrats among its members) it was agreed not to pursue the path of registering  with the State of Hessen  the title Grosses Gewächs as a legally official designation for their top dry wines. Members voted to use the VDP classification in exactly the same way as it is used by VDP members in the other 12 wine-growing regions....
