After a self-enforced summer hiatus caused by my May decision to abandon my then-current dissertation project, I am reviving my MW diary shortly after the fourth anniversary of its birth. Last week the results of all the MW exams were released, with eight candidates finally gaining the hallowed suffix. For many others, another year of grind was set before them – myself included. I have decided I must pick a new topic to pursue for my dissertation, since the problems I encountered with my previous one are probably insurmountable. I have a couple of options, with one favourite. Whether I can get it approved by the almighty...
