There is currently some discussion of the maturity of 2004 burgundies on our forum and I am shamelessly using that as an excuse to point you in the direction of this silky red bordeaux Baron de Brane 2004 Margaux, the second wine of Ch Brane Cantenac, which is already drinking delightfully.

I most recently tasted it courtesy of English wine merchant Stone, Vine & Sun and included my tasting notes reproduced below, in today´s article about them.

Baron de Brane 2004 Margaux 16.5 Drink 2007-11
Very smooth and silky, and ready to drink. Real polish. Not for those who seek grunt and funk but lovely for classicists. 13%
Stone, Vine & Sun £17.95

I see that according to wine-searcher.com, Stone, Vine & Sun seem to have sold out of this useful wine but it seems to be widely stocked elsewhere, and I can recommend it as a fine and pleasurable classical red bordeaux for serving already. In fact, as is often the case with second wines, it seems to me to be tasting better today than the grand vin, to which I last gave 16 points in Aug 2008, suggesting it would probably be at its best from 2010 to 2016.
