The winner of the Geoffrey Roberts Award 2004 Shalva Khetsuriani writes from his native Georgia, where he runs the family wine business, that in Moscow today is an international conference on Georgian wines which will be opened by his own lecture on the current state of winemaking and vine growing in Georgia. He also reports that his family has begun to sell their own tea in Moscow. It’s made in very small quantities and the whole of the first consignment was snapped up by the famous Pushkin restaurant. I didn’t even know that Georgia produced tea but he suggests that tea could become Georgian wine producers’...
