Vintage 2005 so far in Spain

Victor de la Serna, Spanish wine writer and now wine producer at Finca Sandoval in Manchuela east of Madrid sends this report, as they say: This incredible drought (11 months now) is a great danger for everyone in Spain (and southwestern Europe in general). I've been irrigating weekly for the past six weeks - never happened to us before. The dry-farmed old vineyards may suffer too much to reach decent maturity as the grapes may shrivel before phenolic maturity.
