Spent yesterday in Ampuis celebrating Marcel Guigal’s elevation as Decanter Man of the Year 2006. High points included tasting the ‘la la wines’ ( La Mouline, La Turque and La Landonne Côte-Rôtie 2003 ) from cask. They will definitely be worth begging for when they are released in about a year’s time. And the 2002s are extremely respectable for the vintage too, though La Mouline 2002 , just released, is eerily ready to drink. See my rather rough and ready tasting notes on these Guigal wines – though look out too for notes on 70 vintage champagnes tomorrow.
