Is someone getting married?

No, we were not among the 5,000 who slept out on the pavements of London last night in the hope of catching a glimpse of the happy couple today. Call us curmudgeons, or gluttons, but we're celebrating Royal Wedding Day by flying to Barcelona this morning (yes, paying the carbon offset) and eating our last ever meal at El Bulli tomorrow night. (Got to compare it with Noma, doncha know.)

So many Brits seem to be leaving the country over this long weekend (both today and Monday are public holidays in the UK) that we fully expect terrible congestion at the airport, but of course we wish the lovely couple a very long life of health and happiness together.

Congratulations to Pol Roger for securing the contract to supply the champagne. This is nothing to do with me as the host is Prince Charles rather than the Royal Household's cellar, on which I advise, but I am delighted for this family-owned champagne producer as it has been particularly badly hit by the collapse of Oddbins.

But this is as close I intend to get to writing about The Wedding.
