At the end of October Hugh Johnson, Nick and I went to Moscow for a couple of days to launch the first-ever Russian edition of The World Atlas of Wine . I'll be publishing an article about one particular aspect of Russia's growing love affair with wine at the end of this month. It was fascinating to see Moscow for the first time in 30 years, SO changed. Such a lot of luxury goods on sale, so much neon. The rich really are rich there (and despite the fact that hard currency transactions are theoretically banned, all prices are in US dollars). There are fewer beggars on the streets than in London.
