Château Latour 1959-2000
These notes were taken at a fascinating vertical of bottles brought directly from the château's own (recently remodelled) cellars by manager Frédéric Engerer to The Great Wine Seminar in Miami in March 2003.
He decided to serve them in groups of similar vintages which went like this:
Dampish - 1997, 1991, 1973
Needing a little more light (to ripen the fruit) at the end of the growing season - 1998, 1994, 1988
Warm vintages, uncomplicated wines - 1999, 1985, 1971
Very hot summers in which Cabernets sometimes got too ripe - 1995, 1989
Tough vintages - 1986, 1975...
