Dr Manfred Prüm, current guardian of the Prüm family vineyard holdings in Wehlen just downriver of Bernkastel in the Mosel, was persuaded to unhand some very special bottles for the The Great Wine Seminar in Miami last March. This Seminar runs at quite a lick - three major wine tastings a day and this was the third. Hence the brevity of the notes. Dr Prüm reminded us that his vineyards had never been plagued by phylloxera so a good 95 per cent of his vines, mainly 40 to 50 years old, are ungrafted.
