Some current California offerings (2003)
Here are notes on a wide range of Californian wines tasted over the past few months. Wines are arranged with whites before reds and then alphabetically by (sur)name of producer and then young to old.
Prices may have been softening in California and the bottom end of the Californian wine market is at long last interesting, with plenty of competition for the hugely successful Two Buck Chuck among those buying on the bulk market, but there is still a heck of a lot of overpriced Californian wine in the pipeline. Maybe the low yields of 2003 are something of a godsend.
