This current champagne release from Krug is absolutely stunning. I urge you to seek it out if you are a fan of top-quality champagne. Clos de Mesnil is a four-acre walled all-Chardonnay vineyard in Mesnil-sur-Oger from which Krug has been making a single-vineyard Blanc de Blancs for a couple of decades now. They are always fine - sometimes too much so. But the inherent delicacy of the grapes together with the ripe classicism of the 1990 vintage makes for an extraordinary combination. There is honey and toast on the nose, extreme elegance and creaminess on the palate and an exceptionally complex finish in which I even got a whiff...
