Moderate consumption of wine has a larger protective effect on women

More than 50 scientists from 22 different countries participated in the Wine and Health International Congress in Chile recently which examined some of the latest research in to health and the moderate consumption of wine last week.

Doctor Maria Donati from the Catholic University of Campobasso, Italy, declared that wine has a larger protective effect on women than on men. She added: 'although we don't know exactly what could be the cause for this, we think that it may be because women drink lower amounts, more regularly and they have better eating habits'.
